About Us
Scoil Naomh Bríde is one of four schools in the Parish of Moycullen. It is located in the Gaeltacht area of Tulach Uí Chadhain (Tullokyne). Scoil Naomh Bríde presently has three mainstream classes, one full time Learning Support/Resource Teacher as well having supplementary hours from teachers from other schools.
The school was originally built in 1862 and was extended and refurbished in 2002.
All subjects on the Primary Curriculum are taught in the school. As a school we opted not to sign up to the Gaeltacht Recognition Scheme devised by the Department of Education and Skills. Therefore, we teach our subjects through English although there is a large emphasis on the use of Gaeilge in our daily routine.
We are a very active school. Students are given the opportunity to play Gaelic Football, hurling, handball, Olympic handball, soccer and basketball at various stages and at various levels, either competitively or recreationally during their time in school. Every Thursday Úna, our visiting teacher, comes and teaches each child violin which the children perform at some school events including our annual Christmas show where the children perform Christmas Plays or in a Carol Service on alternate years. We have visiting coaches who come at various stages during the year to coach the children in a range of different sports while each Monday the children have swimming lessons in Leisureland, We take our role in looking after our environment very seriously. The school has invested in solar panels and the children are involved annually in maintaining our garden areas where they learn about growing their own food as well as looking after our biodiverse planting and pollinator strips.
There is a very active Parents’ Association in the school that works closely with the teachers and the Board of Management. There are a range of after school activities from Irish Dancing to Drama to yoga, coding and art as well as an excellent homework club each day.
Scoil Naomh Bríde is a Catholic Primary School. The children receive the Sacraments of Confession and Holy Communion in Rang a Dó and the Sacrament of Confirmation in Rang a Sé if they wish to do so.
Our aim in Scoil Naomh Bríde is to provide an education for each individual child in a happy, safe environment that allows them to reach their full potential in a holistic way. Our motto is ‘Ag obair le chéile’ or ‘Working Together’.
